Products and services
J+S has three primary and interrelated areas of activity:
- In-service support including obsolescence management and resolution
- Sonar systems and weapon launch systems, and
- Engineering design and development.
It applies its competencies in systems, mechanical, software, electronics and manufacturing engineering to deliver customized services in these areas.
In-service support ranges from classic discrete support and repair contracts to availability-based Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) services that include spare parts and repair services, post-design engineering services, mobile in-service support teams and technical investigations.
J+S has particular expertise in obsolescence management, which is a critical capability as defence systems remain in service for extended periods and OEM support is withdrawn, especially in the fast-changing electronics world. J+S takes a proactive approach by conducting studies, pro-actively monitoring future change needs and conducting cost-benefit analyses of candidate solutions. However, its key capability is its in-house engineering capabilities to develop cost-effective and durable solutions.
J+S has design and development expertise in sensing, communications, electro-mechanical test and simulation/stimulation. Applications include transducers and hydrophones, including sonar arrays, electronic and electrical hardware and electronic protocols, data exchange formats and military standards. J+S designed the first Local Area Network (LAN) for Royal Navy vessels and continues to support it. The company has designed and developed low profile thin-line towed line array transducers suitable for use by Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV).
