Humidity control is one of the keys to protecting military equipment from premature degradation. Kaycom's relationship with Brownell, a UK supplier of moisture protection products, desiccants, humidity indicators and dehydrators, allows it to offer a range of humidity management solutions for various types of military equipment and containers. Brownell's customer base includes a large number of European and North American aerospace and defence companies.
- Breather, static tubular and panel-mounted desiccators,
- Desiccant sachets and ports,
- Humidity indicator plugs,
- Immersion proof breathers, which prevent pressure or vacuum build up in instruments or equipment subject to water spray or immersion,
- Nitrogen purging systems.
Brownell's NEPS1000 Advantage dry nitrogen purging system is a complete solution for humidity protection and moisture inhibition for delicate equipment including fire control and imaging systems. Its features include single connection purging, dew point and pressure indication, fully automatic gas control and water vapour ingress testing. Nitrogen is a reliable dry gas, which is economic and safe, as well as being chemically inert with most metals and materials. The system is portable and robust. It is user programmable with automatic operation, and can measure the dryness of the gas, prior to use to ensure its suitability.
In traditional conditioning with dry nitrogen, the gas flows from an entry connection to an outlet port. The gas will follow the simplest and easiest path to the outlet connection, and this can lead to "pockets" of gas. The single connection approach, combined with rapid pressure and dew point measurement, allows efficient and precise humidity control. A choice of three selectable pressure cycles ensures that the dry nitrogen penetrates all the space within the equipment.
